“Women’s Work” – a celebration of women artists working in Wollongong
A group exhibition of local Wollongong Women Artists to acknowledge and celebrate their work, their creative abilities and commitment to the arts in Wollongong.The exhibition includes 15 women artists who work in a variety of mediums. Artists include Libby Bloxsome, Judy Bourke, Joni Braham, Lorraine Brown and Narelle Thomas, Keira Byrne, Dulcie Dal Molin, Tori De Mestre, Jack Draper, Lesley Goldacre, Liz Jenied, Kathy Orton, Arja Valimaki, Leonie Watson, Kim Williams and Sue Bessell. Friday 5 March
International Women’s Day Launch Luncheon
This event brings together women from across the region to recognise and celebrate the achievements and successes of women in the region. It is also an opportunity to highlight and discuss the challenges that women still face.The launch for the week of activities will occur at this Annual Luncheon where our committee will also have the pleasure of announcing individual scholarships to deserving women of the Illawarra. The vent will be hosted by Win Television's Amy Taylor, with special guest speaker Janine Shepherd.
This year the committee will be raising funds for the Wollongong Women’s Refuge to help deliver services not previously available at the Refuge such as the funding of a mental health worker and developing particular mental health programs.

International Women’s Day March and Rally
Raises issues important to women and supporters of women’s rights – peace, equal wages and conditions for women workers, pro-choice, anti-violence and supporting indigenous, gay, refugee and disabled rights. Take a stand and join us for a picnic (BYO) march and rally with speakers and entertainment.Time: 1:30 pm, March 2pm Rally (Picnic in the Park prior to Rally from 12 midday)

Sunday 7 March
Stress Less
An afternoon for women, their families and friends to STRESS LESS. Bring a picnic and enjoy the dance performances or live music by local female performers including Tania Nichamin and Karla Bishop. A pamper tent will host mini facials and massages. There will be a jumping castle and face painting to keep the kids entertained plus sporting activities taking place. Unwind while getting involved in some craft activities or take a stroll around the various information stalls.Time: 11am – 3pm Cost: Free

Brunch at BlueScope – Event for High School Students
By invitation only.
Mentoring young people by providing the opportunity for young people to learn from the wisdom of female guest speakers from the Illawarra. All have succeeded at attaining their goals in different fields of endeavour.Time: 10am – 12 noon

Unveiling the Myths Muslim Women’s Poster Project
18 beautiful photographic posters of Muslim women and girls will be launched during International Women’s Day Week. The poster was one of the outcomes of the three-year project ‘Unveiling the Myths’, conducted by the Illawarra Women’s Health Centre and women of the Muslim community. The project was funded by the Illawarra Area Assistance Scheme and the NSW Department of Community Services. Its aim is to promote positive images of the diversity of Muslim women to the broader community, in order to reduce stereotyping and to enhance harmony and safety.Time: 11:30am

New Young Women Performers Night
An evening of music performed by young women performers, and to celebrate the talent of young female musicians in Wollongong. This is a supervised event and is free for young people aged between 12-24 years.Time: 6.00pm

Networking Event: Young people contributing to boards
A networking event for young people (under 30) hosted by Women on Boards (WOB) and the University of Wollongong. Featuring a guest speaker addressing “The Career Myths” and a panel discussion on why it is important to include board work in your career and how to get your first board role.
Time: 5:30pm – 8:00pm

IWIB Illawarra Businesswomen’s Awards 2010
IWIB recognizes the achievements of successful business women of the Illawarra through the annual IWIB Illawarra Businesswomen’s Awards.The awards guest speaker this year is Judith Henderson, Patron of the Illawarra International Women’s Day Committee. Judith is a consultant on strategic planning and development, leadership and change, and knowledge management. She has experience in the public sector along with the areas of business development, education, immigration, gender and the environment. Judith has been a member on various state and national advisory committees and reference groups as well as the UN Commission on the Status of Women. Judith mentors several women in the private and public sectors. Judith’s topic at the Awards meeting will be “Are we there yet?”
